Corporate Responsibility
The Passionists advocate through the use of its investment portfolio.
As a member of the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR), we enter into dialogue with companies with whom we want to maintain investments but would also like to have particular areas of social concern addressed. As responsible shareholders we sometimes use the power of shareholder resolutions, but our goal is to have a productive dialogue with these companies and work together toward a positive response to these social issues.
The Passionists are engaged in dialogue related to many of our corporate investments over three issues that concern our international community:
- Our first priority is to further develop basic human rights within the company and their supply chain. We work with a variety of companies on this issue and we also collaborate with other shareholders to address industry-wide codes of conduct.
- Our second concern is to address carbon pollution and to promote the development and use of renewable energy. We work with our oil and automotive investments to promote the development and production of these new energy technologies.
- Finally we also work with the Pharmaceutical Industry with the intention of addressing access of HIV/AIDS drugs and treatment to those who suffer from this disease especially in Africa and Asia.
