  • The Passionist JPIC Office is attending with other Catholic and faith based organization two advocacy events. Look at our Action Alert for information on:
    • The Catholic Social Ministry Gathering: Charity in Truth, seeking the Common Good – February 7-10 2010 in Washington DC
    • The Ecumenical Advocacy Days: A Place to Call Home, immigrants, refugees and displaced peoples – March 19-22 in Washington DC
  • The Passion for Justice blog will highlight the following four issues this month.
    • With the recent March for Life having taken place in DC, the blog will offer reflections and share experiences from friends of the Passionist community with regards to the issue of abortion and promoting the dignity of all life.
    • We will continue to highlight any updates to the situation in Haiti and the ministry of Fr. Rick Frechette, CP
    • The issue of immigration will be raised by both advocacy events and the Passionist JPIC Office will invite members of the Passionist community to take part in a campaign to advocate on a comprehensive immigration reform Bill in congress that respects the principles of Catholic social teaching. The blog will share reflections and experiences from members of Passionist community on this issue and these advocacy experience.
    • As we begin the Lenten season the Passionist JPIC Office will also highlight the prison ministry of the lay and vowed Passionists family.  
  • The Passionist JPIC Office and the Bishop Molloy Passionist Retreat House in Jamaica, NY is hosting a Passionist JPIC Young Adult retreat on March 12-13, 2010
  • The Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility is having its members meeting from February 2 – February 5 of 2010.
  • The Passionist JPIC Office has a mailing for parishes and retreat centers on programs and services of the Passionist JPIC Office. The Office offers Retreat and Mission programs that are related to Passionist spirituality on Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation which is particularly valuable during the Lenten season. The office also offers a series of workshops that are related to scripture and themes of Catholic social teaching including the recent encyclical by Pope Benedict XVI on Charity and Truth. Please contact us if you would like to promote these programs within your own Retreat Center.

  • The North American Passionist JPIC will follow up to the mailing that it sent out to the lay and vowed Passionist communities and ministries in North America to develop an internal network of Passionist JPIC promoters. The network will promote the issues and services of the JPIC Office and share local social concerns and JPIC related programs.
