The Kaiser Family Foundation offers this valuable resource on the various healthcare proposals that are up in Congress. The link is below. It is an interactive side-by-side compares the leading comprehensive reform proposals across a number of key characteristics and plan components. This side-by-side will be regularly updated to reflect changes in the proposals and to incorporate major new proposals as they are announced.

Thanks John and Hugo for your thoughtful comments. Really appreciated reading some historical Catholic perspective on this. Also loved the Paul Krugman clip. Keep up the good fight!

For the sake of better understanding the urgent need of a universal health care plan in the Nation, we must mentioned that those “Americans who are left outside of the private healthcare system” are the usual suspects, “Minorities”. From this perspective, we may even change the narrative as to how this issue is framed. For example—according to the Agency for Healthcare Research & Equality’s Addressing Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health Care Fact Sheet—A small study of physicians' decisions about whether to refer patients for cardiac catheterization, a diagnostic procedure for heart disease, provides supportive evidence that factors other than insurance and income can influence the quality of care people get. This study, which used actors portraying similar economic backgrounds, found that black women were significantly less likely than white men to be recommended for referral, despite reporting the same symptoms . Furthermore, there are 46 million people without health insurance, and half of those are Ethnic-
Minorities. The Universal Healthcare Movement must emphasize this reality in order for the public to understand that we are in a National Healthcare Crisis and not mierly part of the yes-we-can (change)-band-wagon, but that a restructuring of the healthcare system is a matter of justice, and moral integrity for the entire Nation.

The following video depicts how easy it is, at the moment to exclude Ethnic-Minorities from access to healthcare.
